Windows 11‘s system requirements have proven challenging for many older computers. Until recently, users could bypass the hardware limitations, but Microsoft has now addressed this “problem.”

New Hardware Requirements

In Insider Build 27686, Microsoft introduced a fix that blocks the previous methods of bypassing the TPM and Secure Boot checks. This change means that installing the OS on computers that do not meet the system requirements is no longer possible.

Impact on Future Installations

To install future Windows 11 builds, you’ll need a computer with an Intel processor no older than the 8th generation or an AMD Ryzen from the “two thousandth” series, equipped with a TPM module. NIX Solutions notes that Microsoft did not mention this fix on their official website, but we’ll keep you updated on any further developments.

Options for Affected Users

Users with PCs that do not meet the new system requirements have a few options. They can either update their hardware, continue using Windows 10, or switch to an alternative operating system, such as Linux, as new Windows 11 images are released.
