NIXsolutions: FixBrowser 0.1 Released for Linux and Windows

The first test version of the FixBrowser 0.1 web browser has been released for Linux and Windows (2000/XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10/11). According to its developers, the application is designed with a focus on low resource consumption and data privacy. It features an interface similar to the earliest versions of Microsoft operating systems, appealing to users who prefer a retro look.

Features and Capabilities

FixBrowser’s code is written in C and FixScript, and it does not support JavaScript directly. However, it is capable of launching websites that rely on JavaScript by using the FixProxy layer. This layer converts websites that either use standard templates or employ fix handlers.

NIXsolutions

For captcha and CloudFlare JavaScript components, the developers plan to create an additional layer based on the CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework). This layer will selectively execute only the necessary code, improving performance. Furthermore, FixBrowser limits the loading of resources from third-party hosts. It uses whitelists to allow downloads through content delivery networks (CDNs). HTTPS support is included, and the browser also supports extensions written in FixScript.

It’s important to note that FixBrowser performs only basic rendering and does not support dynamic content updates. Once a page has loaded, it remains static, with no further updates to its content. This may limit the browser’s use for some dynamic web applications, but it’s designed with minimal resource consumption and simplicity in mind.

Plans for the Future

The project developers plan to further improve the browser, adds NIXsolutions. The upcoming layer for handling captcha and CloudFlare components will enhance the functionality, enabling more seamless browsing experiences for users who encounter these services. Additionally, they’ll continue to optimize the FixProxy layer and work on more features to ensure that FixBrowser remains an efficient and privacy-focused solution for users. We’ll keep you updated as more integrations become available.

You can download the test version of the browser, distributed under the ZLIB license, from the official project website.
