NIX Solutions: YouTube Tests Voice Notes in Comments

YouTube is experimenting with a new feature that allows a small group of creators to leave voice notes as responses to user comments. This test aims to improve interaction between creators and their audiences, fostering closer relationships on the platform.

Limited Availability for Creators

Currently, the ability to post voice notes is only available to certain creators in the United States. Additionally, voice responses can only be recorded through the YouTube app for iOS, and creators can use this feature exclusively on their own channels.

For those with access, posting a voice note is simple. Creators can tap the new sound wave icon while replying to a comment, record their voice response, and upload it. While this feature is limited to selected creators, all YouTube users can listen to the voice notes. If users prefer not to listen, they can click the “transcribe” button below the voice note to read the recorded comment instead.

Enhancing Creator-Fan Interaction

YouTube hopes this feature will strengthen connections between creators and fans by offering a more personal way to engage. This aligns with the platform’s continued effort to expand interactive tools. For example, in March, YouTube introduced the option to share exclusive short videos with subscribers, while September saw the launch of a dedicated chat feature for subscribers of specific creators.

The voice response feature remains in its experimental phase, but it reflects YouTube’s commitment to exploring new ways for creators to engage with their audiences, adds NIX Solutions. We’ll keep you updated as more integrations become available or if the feature expands to a wider group of creators in the future.
