NIXSolutions: Facebook Revamps Friends Tab

Facebook has introduced a revamped Friends tab, offering a dedicated feed made up entirely of Stories, Reels, and posts from friends. This update removes the recommendations and non-friend content that have filled the main feed, bringing the platform back to its original purpose—connecting people with those they know.

Changes and How to Use the Tab

Previously, the Friends tab primarily displayed friend requests and suggestions for new connections. Now, it serves as a standalone feed featuring content exclusively from friends. This update provides users with a break from ads and random group posts, ensuring they only see posts shared by their personal connections.

The Friends tab can be accessed from the navigation bar within the Facebook app. Users can also pin it for easier access by selecting the three-bar menu, tapping the settings icon, and navigating to Settings > Tab bar to choose which tabs to pin, adds NIXSolutions.

A Step Toward the Old Facebook

Meta acknowledged in an official blog post that while Facebook has evolved to offer top-tier experiences in groups, video content, and Marketplace, the platform’s “friends magic” had diminished. The Verge notes that this shift is essentially an admission that algorithm-driven content had taken priority over direct social connections.

Mark Zuckerberg has hinted at additional updates aimed at restoring Facebook’s earlier focus. More features are expected to be added to the Friends tab over time, yet we’ll keep you updated as more integrations become available.
