At today’s “It’s Glowtime” event, Apple confirmed that macOS Sequoia will launch on September 16. The update was initially introduced at the WWDC24 conference in June, and while certain features will arrive later, some exciting updates will be available immediately.
Key Features of macOS Sequoia
Like iOS 18, macOS Sequoia will not have access to Apple Intelligence features until macOS Sequoia 15.1, which is scheduled for release in October. We’ll keep you updated on this and other developments. For now, here’s what you can expect in September:
- iPhone Mirroring: One of the most anticipated features allows you to wirelessly use your iPhone through your Mac. Even if your iPhone is across the room and locked, your Mac’s keyboard and trackpad can control it, and notifications from your phone will appear on your Mac.
- Window Pinning: You can now pin program windows into fixed, convenient positions, much like Windows, to better organize your workspace.
Other notable features include:
- A new Safari tool that identifies key information on web pages, such as directions or article summaries.
- Reading Mode, which offers a distraction-free reading experience with added support for article summaries and tables of contents.
- Game Porting Toolkit 2, enabling developers to bring more games to Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
- Presenter Preview, a tool that shows how much of your screen is visible before broadcasting.
- The ability to change backgrounds in video calls.
- A dedicated Passwords app to store your passwords and two-factor authentication codes without needing the Settings app.
- Messages updates, including new text effects, emojis, reactions, and scheduled messages.
- The Photos app now features Collections for better photo organization.
- The Calendar and Reminders apps are now integrated for a streamlined experience.
In addition, new text tools, Siri improvements, ChatGPT integration, image generators, and emojis will be available later this year.

We’ll keep you updated on the latest features and improvements coming with future releases.
